Off course

This is a message for all Torontoists (especially those in Toronto), you see you are in the wrong place. You are approximately 100KM away from your target. The CBC informs us ‘Polka King Walter Ostanek to tap keg Friday at K-W Oktoberfest’ and the additional part (making you in the wrong place) is “Friday’s keg tapping begins at 11:30 a.m. in front of Kitchener’s city hall”, the information was given to us all a few hours ago, but there is still time to get there (if you hurry within the speed limits) because you have 150 minutes to get there, which is doable. Off course if too many adhere to this message, the road to your destination will be swamped. And when we see “Polka King Walter Ostanek is set to tap the keg Friday at K-W Oktoberfest. He’ll be joined by Matthias Luttenberg, the German Ambassador to Canada. Ostanek, 91, has previously announced this will be his last Oktoberfest as he’s retiring.” And there is no excuse for missing his retirement party, and there is every reason to be there and buy a stein of beer. And see the master of the Polka give his last keg tapping and give him a warm applause whilst he is doing this.

For me, I am a little too far away and the distance of 15,655 km can’t be overcome in 120 minutes, mainly because I don’t have the the number of Flash or Superman (I couldn’t find the number for Metropolis) and that is the only way for me to get there in time, so have a great day, give applause to Walter Ostanek who at 91 never failed to give tribute to the Bavarian way of life (we are all Bavarians in October of any given year) so let the beer steins be filled and let the beer maids service you for drinks again and again.

And to put it in a non-etiquette expression “Oans, zwoa, g’suffa!” and down the hatch that stein goes (optionally in one gulp) and in that meantime, give Matthias Luttenberg, the German Ambassador to Canada a chance to give the start signal (for several rounds) of the drinking event, because there is never one start signal for drinking during Octoberfest and come to think of it, you should not do this on an empty stomach, so call for pretzels and Weiss wurst, its only fair to try the other delicacies that Octoberfest has to offer.

When it comes to these events, I whole heartedly go native in the events, even if they are held in Canada. So people from Toronto, do me proud and head the call of beer even if it is before 12:00 and it is on a Friday and I feel certain that this makes for the start of a great weekend. And keep your eyes out in case the PM Carney shows up, there is always a good reason for any bigwig to give away at least one round of that golden liquid 😉

That is all there is from me, it is almost 03:30 on Saturday. We all have our crosses to bare and this article sounds more fun that writing about Washington DC and its Orange menace, mainly because (for all the right reasons) he was not given the Nobel Peace price, which went this year to South African jurist and former UN human rights chief Navanethem “Navi” Pillay. So congratulations to her and a happy non-winning applause to the other fellow.

So I still got a few words of world events in this blog today, the next one is in 15 hours. Have a great day.
