Timelines of confusion

That is the setting, but before I go into this, lets recap a few articles. The first one was given to us by the Guardian (at https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/aug/02/trump-climbs-down-on-iran-strikes-after-saudi-alarm-and-threats-from-tehran) about a day ago we were given ‘Trump backs down on Iran strikes in expectation of ‘rapidly’ reaching a deal’ with the subtext “US president claims delay is also in response to requests from Iran and other countries in the region” with in addition “The deal would include the immediate and complete reopening of the strait and “an end to Iran’s nuclear threat”, he posted. It marked the latest climbdown from extravagant threats to pound the Islamic Republic in the months-long conflict.

After that we get (several hours ago, at https://aje.news/mcmsi9) ‘Tehran says no current talks with US, Oman meetings ongoing’ with “Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei says in regards to talks with the US, there are no plans to receive a delegation or send an Iranian one. Baghaei adds that a new Strait of Hormuz shipping route being discussed with Oman will be one path with entry and exit lanes.” As well as (at https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/8/3/trump-says-new-iran-negotiations-starting-what-we-know) ‘Trump says new Iran negotiations starting: What we know’ where we see “United States President Donald Trump told reporters on Sunday that an agreement with Iran is imminent and new talks were set to begin on Monday. But at a news conference on Monday, an Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman said: “We are not going to host a delegation or be guests of a country during these days.”

These setting are giving me a speculative setting and the middle east is part of all this deception (by the United States) and it is speculative, I could very well be wrong. This is however the setting that I see and it is important to tell you this, because as I see it, the media is laden with what might be seen as inaccuracies all over the place. These is no way to tell whether this is politically inclined or even if the media is given all the parts they needed to have. There is too much confusion out there. So one more source was added and I now ad this, to give it to you. It is IranWire and I don’t believe it is correct and it is debatable what is correct and what is not. But that is what Iranians optionally read and that needs to be seen too.

The article is seen (at https://iranwire.com/en/features/155759/) where we are given ‘Is Iran Preparing for War With Saudi Arabia?’ We are given “Figures close to the Islamic Republic have asserted that “Saudi Arabia is the most significant potential target.” Furthermore, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters warned that “companions of the United States will burn in the fires of war,” calling on Muslim nations to “reconsider their cooperation with the US.” His warning is directed squarely at Riyadh, which currently finds itself confronting the Islamic Republic and its non-state proxy network across multiple geopolitical fronts, having previously participated in military strikes targeting positions inside Iran in April.

I am hereby calling out these lies. Saudi Arabia and the UAE never assisted or acted against Iran, Iran bombed and used drones to all the Arabian states and there was no reason to do this. They were doing it for an unknown reason (I’ll get to that) as well as ““A ground assault from Iraq in the north and Yemen in the south would finish Saudi Arabia off. Aside from its air power, which would be paralysed immediately once its airfields and air bases are targeted, Saudi Arabia has nothing else. Pakistan cannot offer meaningful assistance due to the lack of a shared land border.”” This implies that Iran is guiding Houthi terrorists to do the dirty works of Iran. It also shows that Houthi terrorists are now also operating from Iraq, whether Iraqi government forces are allowing this or that they are too incompetent to counter these assaults on Saudi Arabia remains to be seen.

So this was the time line I saw and I had already mentioned a few settings in previous blogs. So here is the speculation. The United States are about to lose whatever they have and it is in THEIR interest to see stabilization gone in the Arabian states and they are using Iran to be the play toy or their needs. I cannot make any claim to evidence, but I asked in the first eeek of march why Iran was attacking the UAE more than it was Israel. Israel was aiding the United States in all this, so Iran had a reason to attack Israel. But they attacked the UAE with a lot more drones. This never made sense, because the UAE and Saudi Arabia gave no permission for the United States to attack Iran via their territories.

In all this I was baffled in why Iran was wasting ammunition and drones on countries that weren’t attacking them. I already had a few ideas at that time, but I had no evidence of any kind. I still don’t but when you see the lines from the United States where we see “United States President Donald Trump told reporters on Sunday that an agreement with Iran is imminent and new talks were set to begin on Monday”, yet at present it is Monday 17:50 (Abu Dhabi time) and we see ‘Iran denies Trump claim that new talks will start Monday after he called off attacks’ (source: NBC). As such I have concluded that the initial thought I had yesterday when I stated “It is not enough that I succeed, all others must fail” is that what the United States is aiming for? Its biggest concern was that both Saudi Arabia and the UAE would propel forward and all these attacks on these nations have put a damper on their advances and It will take months to reset them. Is that what the United States are hoping for? But this is only possible if Iran cooperates here and Iran doesn’t like that Saudi Arabia and the UAE are making massive strides. It is possible, but it is massively speculative. I admit that and I have no evidence to support this. Now consider the clusterfuck the United States is involved in (as words go not a nice word, but it is used by the US Marines, so I grant the use of it). So as we count the settings, President Trump has claimed more than 40 times that the U.S. conflict with Iran was nearly over. All whilst I saw that Iran is still in talks with Oman about the strait of Hormuz and now Houthis both in Yemen and in Iraq are pushing for attacking ships in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. So, how exactly is all this won? I created solutions in the first week of march and it is now 6 months later. How is this in any way about a war? Why are refineries still pumping revenue for Iran? Why are distribution channels still operating? Did anyone in the pentagon (optionally ever) read the works of either Sun Tzu or General Carl von Clausewitz? If there is too much anti-China sentiments, they could have reverted to the lesser work of von Clausewitz. It becomes really simple. The timelines do not make sense. And I left my military post in 1982, so I might have unlearned a thing or two in 44 years. But I reckon that at present I know more on waging war than anyone in the Pentagon (I know, quite the statement, but that is what I see from over 40 declarations) and anyone who reads the messages should come to the same conclusion, even if you never served and your knowledge of armed forces is merely based on Stratego (a Dutch Jumbo Games board game).

It irritates me that the media is not on top of all this, because both Saudi Arabia and the UAE are likely to be attacked again, there is no evidence of that, other that the IranWire article and the ‘text’ there is implying that actions are pending against Saudi Arabia. There is no way to hand any level of credibility there, but the chance is there and the acts that Houthi forces in Iraq are ready to act is there, the reliability of that is unknown to me. But with the settings we see, there are all kinds of issues and the fact that the media is glancing over this is too ridiculous for words.

I leave you with these thoughts. I cannot look at the US economy, because I have no idea whose data to trust. This US administration made all data debatable and suspicious. That is the reality of it all and the war sees to be playing in the cards of the United States, no matter what the cost for the United States is and that is actually a little scary. And I was not alone in this, Business Insider (at https://www.businessinsider.com/fed-interest-rates-kevin-warsh-mark-zandi-market-risk-economy-2026-8) gives us ‘A top economist says the Fed’s ‘opaque’ communication style is a serious risk to markets and the economy’ here we see ““If the Fed continues down this increasingly opaque path, a future meeting could trigger a serious market sell-off — putting the broader economy at risk,” Zandi wrote in a post on X on Sunday.” We get this from Zandi, the chief economist at Moody’s Analytics. So there is corroboration, but what he sees is not what I see (I am not claiming to see more, merely different parts and when someone like him says there are issues, I would be taking notice. Apart from all this, there is nothing more to say and I will leave it up to you to to see what is and what is not.

Have a great day today and if you are in Vancouver enjoy breakfast, when you are in Toronto, get ready for lunch, in Amsterdam enjoy coffee and in Abu Dhabi get ready for dinner. This all is making me hungry now, write more later.

The delusional presentation

That is how I felt when I read the News from ABC. There is no setting of ‘merely’ reporting. The ABC decided to forward a presentation by a terrorist. Can we blame them? I wonder. You see the news (at https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-07-20/houthis-declare-maritime-blockade-on-saudi-arabia/106938064) gives us ‘Houthis declare maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia, escalating threat to energy supplies’ where we see “The Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have declared a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia, effective immediately, targeting ships carrying Saudi exports through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The Houthis claim they are acting in response to Saudi Arabia’s “oppressive siege” on Yemen over the past 12 years.” As I see it (slightly less diplomatic) is that the Houthi terrorists are playing the bitches of the Iranians and if Iran falls, so does their no so position of strength. As such Iran requests and like little girls they responded. My mind is racing, because at this point I have to see what more I can do to assist Saudi Arabia and create more IP to come to their aid. So whilst they think they are safe, there is the need to make it not so safe for these Houthi terrorists. So whilst we are seeing “In a statement, the Houthis military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the group would enforce the blockade against its “criminal Saudi enemy”, effective immediately.” As I see it, the only criminal entity are the Houthi terrorists but that might be neither here nor there.

The question then becomes if the Houthis are working from the shores of Djibouti or Eritrea, because that might complicate matters. My personal sight on the map gives rise that they are also operating from Mayyum, which is a small Yemeni island in that strait. But what to do about it, I am almost at a loss. My designs are set to take away options. This might require personal eradication and the way terrorists work is to let others suffer for their operating ways. And that personal approach takes away time from Saudi Arabia. They might have time for now, but the operational setting s that these terrorists can play for time, whilst I am in the mood to play for eradication. The second thing is that they get supplies from somewhere, but where are they coming from and there are thoughts that they are supplied by smugglers operating from Djibouti, but I have no evidence in support of that. Im stuck in the setting to let Houthi villages burn, because that is what the faith of Houthi terrorists is set to. So, it can happen to them as well. So whilst we are given “the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said in a statement that it would respond to them with force, and also that it began implementing protection measures for its ships moving through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.” It is my opinion that more is needed. The media has procrastinated long enough, propagating lies when it suited the needs to their network in ‘support’ of share and stake holders when needed and I think it has been quite enough.

I understand that Iran has a personal setting in all this and I cannot fault them for that, especially as they themselves played the bully car long enough, but now as Houthi children start interfering by acting as a mouthpiece for Iran, I say that we have had enough. And they are children, because Houthi movements started in 1992 and as they ‘feel important’ to come to the aid of Iran, they are pushed into the same clambake as all terrorists and as such they can be made to suffer. Consider that all this started in 1992 by by either Mohammed al-Houthi or his brother Hussein al-Houthi, as such that organisation has not been around for too long and as stated by some, the religious material included lectures by Mohammed Hussein Fadhlallah (a Lebanese Shia scholar) and Hassan Nasrallah (Secretary General of Hezbollah). So their history is drenched in Terrorist history. I did not know this until recently and I learned to seek historical settings in any eradication So when we see, Iran, Hezbollah and Houthi, is there any part of Shia Islam that does not have terrorist grounds? I am merely asking this, because the words of UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed’s warning to the West in 2017. A mere 8 years ago and he is proven right again and again and when the west (which means us) is seeing this and realizing that giving a voice to these extremists is our own undoing. When does the western media wake up? Let these media dodo’s work from the press buildings in Yemen (are there any left?) Or are they happy to vocalize the need of terrorists from their cushy chairs in London, New York, Los Angeles, Sydney. Although there is no visible support for these regional alignment for groups within that “Axis of Resistance” (which includes the Houthis, Hezbollah, and Hamas) in Sydney, but as there are

media connections to monitoring large-scale pro-Palestinian or anti-Israel demonstrations in Sydney’s CBD. There is some hidden support in Sydney, because that setting is fueled somewhere and these people like their media, which with the populist people racing to YouTube and TikTok is a little harder to see, but I reckon that someone might have a word with Director Burgess at some point (the big boss of the sneaky police).

You see, we cannot do to much there, as such we need to find how their voices are propagated outside Yemen and silence these voices. I am all for a right to speak, but I don’t share that need for terrorists. And the idea is to diminish their voice as a given first. So that the media is forced to focus on things like doing so from the Yemen Press Agency (YPA), which is the Middle East’s largest international multimedia broadcast agency headquartered in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen. See how long they last. We see these anti-Semitic settings in Sydney and Melbourne, so lets evict these people to Palestine for a minimum of 2 years to a university in Palestine, Lebanon or Yemen. See how long they last there. See how their voice alter in mere weeks and they need to get by another 100 weeks. Should be fun (as fun goes). But the setting remains, take away their voices, or better stated take away access to delusional influencers who see these groups as a mealticket as they lack access and that is the more dangerous setting and taking away this will enable others to deal with these terrorists in Yemen.

It is simple, something needs to be done, but I am uncertain to what is the best policy. I merely see an IP setting that I can wield. I had an idea, but this would be a little harsh. You see gaming is my forte. So create a survival game where people get to be a terrorist and they are on the setting to live that life. I reckon that others (the wannabe’s) will see the simplicity that their time is measured in mere hours and death is the only outcome for them. You see, as I see it, we only see people like Yahya Saree, but we do not see the 150,000 direct violent deaths and hundreds of thousands more from indirect causes like famine. So when people are faced with giving the life of these (said to be a total of approximately 375,000 killed), so one out of 375,000 gets to become someone like Yahya Saree (0.000267%), the other 99.9998% dies. No other way to show this. So when these wannabe’s play the tens of thousands of times it took them to survive merely once, what is left of their voice? Will they start accepting the futility of it all? And you do not get to blame Saudi Arabia in any of this. Houthi’s were never part of any elected setting and (as far as I can tell) this is why they went to war and supported by Iran they started the Yemeni war. Now they are staging a blockade, as I see it, they are mere children in need of idolization and they used firearms and explosives to get there.

As I personally see it, we should support Saud Arabia in any way we can and  as ABC ends their article with “Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had threatened to use the Houthis to block the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, as fighting between the US and Iran intensified last week.” They seemingly did the right thing, but there is debate to that in several houses and several media settings. What is a fact that Iran is playing its Houthi Terrorist card and everyone is looking at what Saudi Arabia does, all whilst we should be doing something too, we shouldn’t silence voices, but let them live with the consequence of that given voice. That is how I see Professor Mark Scott AO (chancellor Sydney Uni) should have set the marker. I understand that he doesn’t want to hold ‘young voices’ accountable, but in that process he made that place massively dangerous for the Jewish community. As I see it, He could have expelled them to a ‘friendly’ uni in Lebanon, Yemen or Palestine. Wouldn’t that be a great idea for these voices to see what life there is about?

Have a great day. I doubt it gets the support it needs but that does warrant consideration, does it not? #JustSaying

Oman’s neighbour

You might remember the state of Oman, capital Muscat. There are several reasons to remember Oman, the fact that they got into the news last March with: “The Central Bank of Iran has allowed lenders to issue guarantees for Iranian businesses planning to invest in Oman or those who seek to take out loans from Omani banks” is merely one reason. The fact that they are next to Yemen is the actual reason to mention them. You see, when you look at Amnesty International, you see (at https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2015/09/yemen-the-forgotten-war/) the quote “On 25 March 2015, an international coalition led by Saudi Arabia launched air strikes against the Huthi armed group in Yemen sparking a full-blown armed conflict. Over the following three years, the conflict in Yemen is showing no real signs of abating. Horrific human rights abuses, as well as war crimes, are being committed throughout the country by all parties to the conflict, causing unbearable suffering for civilians” is the issue. Now, let’s be clear, Amnesty International is not lying to you, but the setting that led to it is equally important. The missing part is: “Houthi forces controlling the capital Sana’a and allied with forces loyal to the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh have clashed with forces loyal to the government of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, based in Aden“, the setting is ‘former president Ali Abdullah Saleh‘ versus ‘deposed president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi‘, deposed by the Houthi’s who had instigated a Coup d’état. I will admit that it is more complex than that (or better stated there are additional unmentioned facts here), yet the forced deposing of the then president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi is still an issue; he went for help towards his allies.

That part is an important part that is missing. After that things went from bad to worse with on the frontlines Iran using Hezbollah enabling the deniable launching of missiles on Saudi Arabia, that is a clear setting and this escalation has no sign of letting up or slowing down.

Now we get the setting that Bloomberg is giving us. the setting (at https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-07-26/yemen-rebels-say-they-attacked-abu-dhabi-airport-with-drones), with the headline ‘Yemen Rebels Say They Attacked Abu Dhabi Airport With Drones‘, the issue is not merely that they have access to drones, the setting of the Iranian missiles and the fact that the Houthi’s are attacking both Saudi Arabia and the UAE (which is denied by the UAE) gives rise to other parts. with the quote “The source confirmed that the drone, Sammad 3, begun its operations by targeting Abu Dhabi International Airport with several raids, in response to the UAE crimes against Yemen” gives rise to the setting that this is no longer merely a Houthi versus the world setting, the entire premise that not only was there a new Drone developed, the Sammad 3 is also actively attacking the UAE, the question becomes is this done via Saudi Arabia, or via Oman, not merely transgressing on their sovereign land, but is it done whilst some in either government was aware? The direct path via Saudi Arabia makes more sense as there is a whole lot of nothing in that region. The second question becomes: why strategically deploy in this way? We might accept that whatever the Yemeni have is nowhere near what the US has, so it will be less than $12M per drone, but how much less is it?

In addition, what is the operational ability of the Sammad 3 (the speculated drone in question)? When you look into the timeline that one announcement comes after the announcement of the Sammad 2, whilst increasing the operational support 10 fold is also suspicious on a few levels. You see, every system increases as becomes better, but 1000% increase is a little much by any standard. Even as we accept that some strategies are better than others, Middle East Eye gives us: “Since the Saudi-led coalition launched its war in Yemen in March 2015, the UAE has been a key player. Yet, while Riyadh’s goal has been to restore President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi to power and crush the Houthi uprising, Abu Dhabi has focused more on the south, training security forces to secure its own geopolitical ambitions“, in this we might question some actions, and they are to some extent, yet the overbearing issue is that there is an Iranian finger in this pie. Only 14 weeks ago we were treated to: “The Yemeni government says that Iran supplied the Houthi rebels with drones used to attack Saudi Arabia. On Wednesday, Riyadh said it shot down two drones in the south of the country and intercepted ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi forces in Yemen. The drones are “made in Iran”, said Yemen’s internationally-recognised government on Saturday. It added that the country’s military did not possess such aircraft and it was “impossible to manufacture them locally””, this not directly contradicts the Bloomberg news by Mohammed Hatem. You cannot erect a drone solution in this short a time span, not even if you had all the Viagra in the world, so the tool erected setting of Iran trying new tools in the political and escalating statement arena regarding ‘drone strikes’ is more than an issue. When we see the news given from Almasirah Media Network with ‘Air Force Unveils New Drone, Sammad 3‘, are they the tool or, was the statement by The National who by their own words are ‘committed to serving the local UAE community‘ misled and they are misleading the UAE community? You see one of the two is true, not both. No matter which path is the real one, it is my personal opinion that none of this existed without Iran, they are in the middle of this and the other media sources are trying to steer clear as some are trying to ‘save’ an illusionary deal with Iran that was never a real prospect to begin with. No matter which one is true, the Yemeni population remains in the middle of it all. there is a second side to this, the events in the red Sea where a tanker was hit is now stopping transfer of oil via the Bab el-Mandeb strait, potentially upping oil prices. It is a clear intentional push for the US to get involved, especially after we were told “A huge tanker with a shipment of oil from Saudi Arabia bound for Egypt was damaged by a missile attack from the northern Bab el-Mandeb strait in the Red Sea. The Houthi rebels in Yemen, armed and financed by Iran, were responsible for the attack. It happened in the wake of the renewed exchange of threats between the United States and Iran, which could also hurt the oil market” (source: Haaretz), in addition we got “Iran’s Quds force chief Qassem Soleimani said on Thursday that the Red Sea was not secure with the presence of American troops in the area”, so there is a much louder setting that Iran is willing to escalate towards direct outspoken war. I reckon that as Europe is becoming meaningless, the direct involvement of Iran will turn defeat to victory. That is not only not given, there is every chance that the UAE and Saudi Arabia will make a united front, in addition, the naval actions could be bad times for Egypt, so there would be additional support for Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The questions will soon become, where does Qatar stand in all this and what are their options. They have their own worries as accusations more and more ridiculous are hitting the media. It seems that the Sydney Morning Herald is becoming the joke of independent journalism, whilst merely parroting that idiot Martin Ivens (as I personally see him in all this) on “In article published by The Sunday Times alleges the Qatar bid team used a PR agency and former CIA operatives to disseminate fake propaganda about its main competitors, the United States and Australia“, whilst the Sunday Times still has not given the people the millions of documents he stated he had with the previous accusations, so we can all optionally agree that Nine Networks is now wearing the pants in the new merger. That matters, because some are not merely tailoring to the needs of places like (censored name of sponsor), they are setting the stage for unsolicited change and through these events they are adding needlessly to pressures in the Middle East.

Pressures that need avoidance because the expression ‘If you have to fight, fight like a cornered cat‘ is a role that Qatar could be pushed into. I actually prefer the Dutch version of that expression which is ‘A cornered cat can move very unpredictable‘, that is more worrying, because the unsubstantiated accusation are an actual issue on a few levels now. so when we see “the alleged smear campaign included paying a professor $US 9,000 to write a damning report on the economic cost of a US World Cup, recruiting journalists and bloggers to promote negative stories in the US, Australian and international media, and organising grassroots protests at rugby matches in Australia“, we demand to see that report, as well as all other evidence; we need to be shown clearly where the lies in that report were as well as the other evidence. Is that not simple? Show us the ACTUAL evidence!

All these settings are important. We can vocally set the stage against Iran (like I am doing with both evidence as well as a comic look at the two images earlier), and I can look at the presented and i am using the published details available to me with all the settings that are open to the audience at large. I never proclaim to have all the wisdom in the world, yet hiding behind ‘unnamed sources’ and ‘unpublished evidence’ like the Sunday Times, whilst I regard them because of that as nothing more than a mere courtesan to sponsors, that is how I see their actions, when the need to investigate FIFA was there, these media buffs were all about the hooker in the bookcase, the entire setting of the media had become questionable. The setting of the Garcia report, whilst the newspapers and media failed to hammer down on Hans-Joachim Eckert, so when we got the ‘refused to publish on various legal grounds‘, who went after Hans-Joachim Eckert? the entire matter also involved the Qatar 2022 cup bids, so as it stands, we need to make sure that places like the Sunday Times and the SMH are now also optionally the spreaders of Fake News, but that is apparently not the case when they have their unnamed sources.

Even as I spoke out in the end against Qatar 2022, it is only because of the stage that Qatar found itself in. It is not up to me who got them there, some was all their own doing, but a larger part was the act of smear campaigns that we see now. Almost four years of smear campaigns. If we are to actually do something about it, then EVERY newspaper is to offer the 350-page report of Michael J. Garcia from September 2014 on their website with a full page 3 summary of the report. That is the first moment that we can start taking journalists serious again (possibly with the Sun as the one exception). It is my view that anyone who was part of misleading regarding Qatar, or in the other direction supporting in falsehood the Qatar bid should be barred for life from every official sport event. It is the only way and that is merely the one side-track that the Yemen situation now calls for. With Iran upping the stakes in Yemen and with alleged drone strikes on UAE and actual attacks on Saudi Arabia, how long until one of them sees a reason to lash out against Qatar? You see, the plot is also thickening when we see the Iran increasing non-oil trade with Oman by 136% in the last quarter alone. That is half a billion in value, now we can agree that every nation has and needs trade, so I would be the last one to state against it, yet there is every indication that Iran is trying to set the mood fir additional change. Some will remember the setting last year when we were offered “Bank Melli Iran and Bank Saderat Iran will resume their operations in the Omani capital Muscat which had halted during the sanctions that cut off Iran from the international financial network“, this is now seen against the news from March when we saw ‘Iran, Oman resolute to grow banking relations’ with the additional quote “Drafting an operational and practical program with opening joint accounts based on the national currencies of Iran and Oman, independent from foreign currencies, should be considered as one of the requirements of developing banking relations“, so what happens, when the setting of the national currencies becomes the foundation of a credit swap where oil is the determined value? It is merely one step away and the US crying for cheap oil is that one element that could make it happen. The US not acting against Oman, whilst knowingly allowing for the swapping of Iranian originated oil based CDO’s is not that far stretched, is it?

Now we have billions in funds, an operational drone team and additional Hezbollah populists trying to set the stage in Yemen. there is support for that view (to the smallest extent), Arab News two weeks ago gave us: “Yemen’s foreign minister has called on Lebanon’s caretaker government to “rein in” Hezbollah and its aggressive tactics in support of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia“, whilst in addition, whilst the National gave us last week: “The UAE Embassy in Beirut has denied claims made by Lebanon’s pro-Hezbollah Al Akhbar newspaper regarding an “Emirates Leaks” report that says Abu Dhabi is applying pressure on Muscat over the Qatar crisis. The embassy has called the leaked diplomatic correspondence from the UAE Embassy in Muscat “false” and said that it was aimed at creating tension with Oman“. We need to realise that the two are unrelated articles are merely that. One has apples, the other pears and the fact that they both represent pieces of fruit is no evidence, changing one of them into oranges does not behold additional truth that should be clear. Yet the stage where Iran decided to increase trade by 136% is a shown fact and Iran has been doing something similar with Turkey which has not given Turkey an additional amount close to $5 billion in the last 6 months alone. Iran is setting a trade stage where in the end, in light of their devaluation and monetary value can soon (or already) only be honoured with oil, how quaint!

It is not merely the plans in place, it is the funding that these projects require, that is where it seems to make sense, but it is not a given that those are the only paths that are being trodden. You see, there is still the Uranium enrichment program that is worked on. With those in the works, we see the need for serious amounts of cash, skills and equipment, all that from a setting where the infrastructure was no longer able to meet the financial needs and the commitment from Iran towards Yemen by the Iranian commander in chief shows that the next step is not that far away, they will need resources and there is now at least a partial setting in place where the facilitation is close to complete. From my point of view, lowering the pressures on Qatar allows Qatar to walk away from Iran as far as possible limiting the options that Iran has, and that is an essential requirement at present.

Even as we see several sources give us lines like: ‘Oman and Kuwait has taken a neutral position in the dispute involving Qatar‘, I am actually less and less convinced that Oman is completely neutral in all this. Is the trade merely growing sympathy in Oman, or is news from places like Sarfayt and Dhalkut changing the sentiment that the people in Oman have? I actually do not know, but something seems to be stirring in Oman, perhaps it is not a pro-Iran feeling, merely a lessened anti-Iran sentiment, they are not the same. What does matter is that all this is escalating giving Iran more options in Yemen, to counter that outside of a full scale event in Yemen is to take away the available fuel that Iran has and I think that removing pressure from Qatar is a first step in all this. Should this be successful, we might see a setting where Oman feels less comfortable having strong ties with Iran, which seems to serve everyone’s purpose (except Iran of course).
