Yes, that is the setting and it is like a drama, a soap and at times an inverted romcom where hate is the operative word. The Guardian (at https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/sep/10/china-huawei-trial-us) gave us today ‘China’s Huawei branded a criminal enterprise as tech firm’s US trial opens’ as such we see the accusation “A US prosecutor described China’s Huawei as a criminal enterprise that stole from US companies to build its telecommunications empire, as the trial against the tech company kicked off in Brooklyn federal court on Wednesday.” And as ‘the media’ labelled me as “pragmatic activist” (which made me feel like a million bucks) and this article let me be my activist self and I will throw some pragmatic sides to it.  

So when we are given ““Theft, lies, cover-up,” Taylor Stout, a trial attorney from the US Department of Justice, said in the government’s opening statement. “For 20 years, that’s how Huawei, a massive Chinese telecommunications company, victimized American companies and abused the American financial system, all in an effort to dominate the telecommunications industry around the world.”” I have had it with the United States. They lie, they cover up and as I see it, they steal. The lie? Well I can start with the 66 times that they defeated Iran, then there are the media analyses that frequently examine altered accounts of historical events, such as Trump’s top six falsehoods about 9/11 covering his whereabouts and observations and the list goes on. Then we come to the setting where we demand the evidence of wrongdoings by Huawei and we get a tirade of boasts and colorful language, but where is that list of a summary of wrongdoings? 

Then we get the cover ups. What was covered up? The cover up is as I saw it that the techno boys of the United States set on their bedsides allegedly overdosing on viagra and had their non-wives please them and they felt happy about it and that happened deep into the 2000’s in the meantime China ploughed along and created innovative technology, so innovative that a German intelligence officer told the Dutch Welle (I think) was the one that gave us “We do not understand that technology” it was that advanced and in 2020 Statista reported that countries who had Huawei showed us that they had download speeds of 377.2 Mbps whilst the US only had 52 Mbps. We can get all kind of reasoning, but the truth is that the United States is massively behind. (according to Statista) So then we get to the stealing part. So where are these 13 billions in Venezuelan oil revenue? So, recent reports and congressional investigations accuse President  Trump of taking or misusing money through classified document retention, cryptocurrency ventures, and blocked federal funds. And as such, we see Huawei getting accused of these acts? Whilst Huawei is showing the world the Matebook fold. 

It blows whatever Apple/Microsoft/Google has out of the water. That is not theft, they innovated over a year ago and they blew whatever the United States has out of the water, that is not theft that is innovation and (for the clarity of Taylor Stout) Innovation is “introducing a new idea, method, product, or way of doing things that creates fresh value” and it is something that Huawei has been doing for over a decade. And when we get the real list, a clear list of what was stolen from the United States business corporations, just pretend it is a Christmas list. 

So when we get to “Huawei conspired to steal trade secrets from five US companies, including operating system source code for internet routers from Cisco Systems and a robotic arm to test phones from T-Mobile, to gain an unfair competitive advantage and grow its business, the prosecutor told jurors.” I am not going into some ‘they would never do that’ part. Basically all corporations are alike and I reckon that Chinese firms are likely the same. But my resounding setting is that (at present) Huawei is the real innovator. Apple was innovative, Google likely is innovative at present and in my personally biased view Microsoft is basically a has been. Huawei has been pouncing the 4G and 5G settings and as I see it, those banning Huawei are likely shooting themselves in the foot. But I am not the real expert in these matters, but (as far as I can tell) the entire ‘anti-Huawei’ setting is brought on by the United States by there anti-Chinese sentiment. So as this trial is likely to represent an episode of Days of our lives, we need to see where this ends. Likely it will get really ugly as the United States is bleeding revenue all over the place and whilst we see “The U.S. federal budget deficit for fiscal year 2026 has reached approximately $1.8 trillion as of July, with total projections nearing $1.9 trillion to $2 trillion by the end of the fiscal year” and that is before ewe realise that their interest payment for over $1 trillion is likely due too. And in the setting we see that innovative Huawei is more than likely to take a chunk of market share from corporations in the USA. 

We can optionally debate if that is likely to happen, but the anti-USA sentiment is getting stronger in Europe, the Commonwealth and the Gulf States all whilst these places have a growing interest in Chinese deals. And as the article implies that we will get months and months of anti-China sentiments. All whilst the world has had it with the United States, as such these anti-China sentiments will not go far outside of the United States. And whilst we get the prosecution side of ‘legal grandstanding’ and there could be a pilot, a twist (I reckon that any drama setting running 62 seasons) will have a few plots, twists and cliffhangers. A setting we will see evolve over the next few weeks in the newspapers and these media romcoms called ‘News at 9’ (could be 7 or 8) I’ll end this story about Microsoft and their issue they had with Netscape in 1998, at what point did they label Microsoft as a criminal enterprise? Just asking.
