The brain jostles

That happens, in my mind there is an eternal struggle for dominance (not in a bad way) but the back of the mind saw something and it is trying to work it out, whilst me, myself and I are also in need of that grey matter. The back of the mind saw a DARPA challenge of ‘Triage Challenge (DTC)’ with the subtext “Transforming how medical responders triage in mass casualty incidents by advancing scalable, timely, and accurate tools.” But the brain (mr Grey) saw that the bottlenecks is not a setting of operation, it is one of adherence. It doesn’t make sense. But consider that a nation has 15 million people and they all trusted Microsoft (there’s a thought) , but as they trusted AI (for whatever reason) and now we have 15 million unresponsive people. So, Mr Grey decided that the setting is not that you need to get to people, you need a solution that can be deployed at any place in that nation and from there the settings come calling. So Mr. Grey decided to employ a call centre and treat every person like it is part of a call centre. Confused? I thought you were, I was too. But consider that you have two stacks one with medical personnel and one not. The call centre setting makes every doctor important and that is the call. So whilst you have a doze doctors making calls and only a higher doctor can overrule a lower doctor, but then you get a new call centre where the pool comes from Nurses-Doctors-specialists and you refrain from bottlenecks you get a new kind of triage. So stop getting a dozen beds because you only have a dozen doctors, you get 60 beds because all the medical staff can determine casualties and disregard initial low calls, these low calls are not dismissed, but the pressure to get the important casualties are not restricted to these 12 beds. What does happen is that this call centre approach needs to work differently and that takes a logistical side, A new medical call centre approach so whilst we are given that there is a new consideration. So out of hand, consider that a hospital has a dozen forms, but instead of dispersing these forms, each doctor has all the forms, they are collecting an storing information and they print out a QCode, which has all the information and is attached to the person (like a Pandora chain on the wrist) and when there is more than one QCode charm, higher people look at this what might be required. And as this is all read on the spot, all whilst the tablets read and collect everything now, the equation changes. This allows for mass collection and triage abilities to move forward. It requires a great deal of discipline, but those in triage tend to have an abundance of those, but as I see it, triage tends to rot; l with the punch and the overlay of suddenly thousands of people needing access to triage makes for a weird situation, as such my brain works out in seconds that this requires a different approach, so whilst some need more nurses, we get the setting that 50 nurses record what needs to be and every doctor has its own nurse making judgement calls on people part of this was seen in Pearl Harbor (the movie) and they worked with what they had, but now we have and can deploy QCodes in seconds, so the track of the bottle neck changes and as these QCodes are deployed, people can be moved to a better site for treatment rather quickly. From there we get. New setting that power is less of an urgency and if these tablets have replaceable batteries, the downtime becomes very low and these batteries can be charged in a hospital and one box could contain 50 batteries, resetting the bulk of all tablets in seconds and DML allows for a much faster deployment of forms and most technology is already there to scan these forms and make them digital. No we merely need to traverse this setting to a QCode answer and the triage setting is near complete. You might have to add forms as one setting (like Pearl harbour) is not the same as another (Esso Chemical Rotterdam), they all have there own settings, but burn forms, respiratory forms and blood form have a near global setting, Doctors tend to have the same global talk and their writings all lead to a free ticket to a museum (small joke). So that was what Mr. Grey figured out in less then a minute.

I was still in play mode and whilst I am not surprised that Sony tends to overwhelm any person who enjoys gaming, I still was blown away with what Sony produced in its state of play. You see I like racing of a kind and perhaps I was a little attached to the settings that Sony gave us with Grand Turismo (1-4) and Need for Speed underground (GameCube) or Project Gotham Racing (Xbox360), but today Sony blow the cover out of all of them with Stuntman Hollywood. A racing challenge with a difference. It looks good, but will it play awesome? Time will tell, but I didn’t see that one coming, so I got my wow factor. And as icing on the cake there was God of War Laufey, new character, new gameplay and new graphics. Everything a growing player needs for his or her diet. Still as I got the joules from my grey cells, mr Grey decided to consider a few more options in the situation he obviously is seeing as resolved. The QCodes go on a chain and the chain is also a data carrier and goes around the neck of the patient. The qcodes are added to that chain, but as I see it, the chain copies all the qcodes that are added and that chain might also collect physical setting, like an elongated smart ring. And it can all connect to the tablet of the doctor who is then getting additional knowledge and give the chain a code that gives it a colour. All setting a new conditional setting to triage and when triage is given in a remote location it merely enhances the information the doctor has access to. Where the qcode was added, where the person has been and from there we get a new kind of triage, because triage comes from the 1700s by Baron Dominique-Jean Larrey, the chief surgeon for Napoleon’s army. He started to sort the wounded, but we now have sort abilities that do not need a doctor, a nurse might do and even then there are some parts that need no medical staff, it merely needs to be recorded (hence the smart chain) and as the QCodes are added, the picture becomes more and more complete. Some need to get more tests, but if you consider that the goal is to reduce the severity of the wounded, we could walk a different path, a new path, not disregarding what we have, but what we can do. And battlefield triage is a lot dependent on what there is. So if we can find the category 1 people and reduce these to level 2, we are already winning. So consider we have:

And from there we get to save them all (just like a Pokemon game), so the smart chain and the QCodes could enable that path, all whilst the doctors look at treating the level 2’s whilst looking for the level 1’s, a setting that comes through new logistics and automation (I refuse to call it AI), because DML will help here, will it be enough? That is for a doctor to decide.

My ego is happy that I met another challenge by DARPA and one that is good for the medical sector, my ego is doing just fine. I wonder what my brain will mostly for tomorrow, time to get some steps in. Have a great day all.

Choices of representation

This happens, we all make choices and that is fine, but when the BBC makes choices of representation there is a larger catch and we need to look at that. In this, I feel largely uneasy regarding the choices the BBC made, but I could agree that we all are allowed to make choices, so lets take a look and see whether their choices were really wrong.

First there is the title ‘UK video games market value dipped by 5.6% in 2022’ which we see (at https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-65175394) and that is perfectly fine. Yet is the representation of a PS5 image correct? To see this we need to consider “The PlayStation 5 has sold 33.54 million units in 28 months, while the Xbox Series X|S sold 20.86 million units. The PlayStation 5 has a 61.7 percent marketshare (+2.0% year-over-year), compared to 38.3 percent for the Xbox Series X|S (-2.0% year-over-year)” (source: VGChartz), but in similar setting we always see this. You see, the setting (from my point of view) would need to be PS5 and Xbox series X, whilst the Xbox Series X is compared to the PS4 pro. But Microsoft is spinning the numbers to the extent that we can never do that, because that would show just HOW BAD Microsoft is actually doing. You see the Xbox series S is powerful enough to make next-gen games look great, albeit at a lower resolution and that is what Microsoft was toiling with, it was more powerful than the PS4 pro (not by much) but it was aggressively priced to do so and the series S now misses the drive and can only work with digital products (not a real issue in todays market). But that alone is setting a different stage and it makes Microsoft less than a winner in this. The second tier (completely unmentioned) is the Nintendo store, who is the massive winner here. In 2021 they had (according to released numbers) $15,990,000,000 in revenue in 2021, whist they ‘only’ had $14,011,000,000 in revenue in 2022, which was a drop for them to around 87.6%. There is your 5% market fall and I reckon that the fall will be the largest representation in the UK as well. No matter how great Nintendo is doing, losing out on $1.8 billion globally will do that, and the numbers I did not look at (as I do not give a hoot) is the mobile game revenue, which I expect show a somewhat similar drop. Yet the article does not show any of that, does it? So what was Emma Saunders doing? And why did she use a Getty image of Sony? The last one was the cherry on the cake, but it matters to me. The losses are clearly seen even if unexpected in the Nintendo and Mobile software setting and that is before I look at the funny money element of Mobile gaming. If anything Sony was a clear winner in 2022 and then we get “Pokémon merchandise was the top performer. According to the ERA Yearbook 2023, top performing titles in the UK in 2022 were Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, PlayStation exclusives God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Forbidden West, Pokémon Legends: Arceus on Switch and Elden Ring” which is fine. But that implies that Nintendo and Sony did amazing in these losses, as such why did we not see a Getty image of Microsoft there? Interesting how the BBC is shielding Microsoft from more established elements that do bring the bacon. The top performers do not mention anything by a Microsoft exclusive article, why is that? It perfectly fine that they failed to perform, but in that setting the 5% drop would be in the Microsoft realm, even as we see that Nintendo did a little less (and still was ahead of everyone else).

So why did the BBC took to the streets with choices of representation by setting the image of Sony whilst they have been making numbers and growing marketshare? Is the stakeholder at the BBC shielding someone from bad news reflection? Just how neutral is the BBC at present?

Just asking.

The images came

Yes, they came, the images. My mind played out the beginning of a new movie, one with Owen Wilson in the lead. I am not ready to tell that story yet. During that escape I also saw a few other things, it is there that we find ourselves. In the middle of a story not to be told, but with images that make sense in gaming. You see, in the early years (1993) Origin made a game that had potential, the game did not really exploit it, but it had created an optional new wave and even as the finale implied things in the end, they never came. Yet it is only one side. Games are always about options, but nothing ever comes from the tail side of that coin. What if choices are set upon us? More important what if the other side has equally strong negative sides? We can select the internet to do our work for us, or we can go forwards embracing the choices we have made. Too many games forget about that. I believe it was the wrong take to make on gaming. We grow and we get clever through adversarial settings. That as been proven for the longest time, yet we overlook it because it is not what the gaming community wants. By whose standards? Players like Ubisoft and Microsoft have no idea what gamers actually want and they have shown that lack over and over agains for at least 10 years. So let’s take this up a notch. You are at a shrine, there is a camera, a book and a potion. You can only select one, what do you take? When the clue is unfolded it makes sense to take one of them, yet each give a formidable advantage, yet you lose the other two. In the age of Gauntlet and Diablo based games we might take that part later, but what happens when the choice if final and the others are removed from choice? As I see it it enables replayability, it grows a much larger value in any game. You see a game that does everything will basically please no one. We forgot that the founders of gaming like Infocom with Zork enabled us to think things through, a side in gaming we tend to forget. And I did too, for the longest time I merely went from achievement to achievement. I forgot to have fun, I forgot what replayability enables, not the same track again, but another path towards the same destination. More to see, more to experience and more the encounter. Most game makers are about story experience and one story fits all, but that is seldom if ever the case. For the same reason two role playing gamers might select different races (orc, dwarf, human, elf). All part of the package, all part of 4 learning experiences. Yet most people stick with the one choice and work from there, yet I believe that they take the one path because no one explained that they can get more by taking another path the next time around. It does not fill the revenue bill and that is a shame, yet in the new stages, in streaming stages that option will become increasingly important. Streamers have a monthly fee, so if one game can be played 4 times the revenue meter fill up larger. More importantly the games would have to become a lot better, a lot more immersive and the stories would need to become a whole lot better. I do not believe this to be a bad thing, this is how evolution of gaming starts and it does need to start, you see fully deployed 5G is no more than 3 years away and at that point the console wars will go into a new dimension with the streamers (Google Stadia, Amazon Luna) will become fierce and a lot more decisive. I do not believe that they will replace the Nintendo Switch or the Sony PlayStation 5. Yet they will be next to a lot of these systems and that is where the $200,000,000,000 revenue ticket for 2022 is at, and with the Amazon Luna with an optional 50,000,000 more consoles that war takes a hard turn into better gaming and the ones not ready for upgrading gaming will lose out to a lot of revenue clambakes. It will not start drastically, it will be all nice, but it sets the stage for 2024 and there the numbers do add up to failure or success and none of the players are embracing failure, or so they seem to think, but which of these systems have truly embraced upgraded gaming?
Not many, I can tell you that much and that is merely the first wave, the second wave will add the previous revenue success to the next one and those who missed out on pile one, have little to no option for an increased pile two. That is where they all are, in denial. Phrases like ‘We are working on it’ or ‘this will sort itself out’ but behind the curtains they sweat, they have no idea where to take it next and I wrote about at least half a dozen options, and they all laughed, but in November 2023 they will stop laughing. They will face the shortcomings of choice and the lack of options they left their gaming community with, so these people will dump that system and cancel that prescription. So these people will face 2024 with limited revenue and no plan of implementation. That will be the losing streamer. The other one will take a bow and head for revenue piles two and three, at that point Sony will face a true contender for the first position in console wars, the field is wide open, but I believe that Microsoft has already lost, they did this to themselves. To be honest, as the information goes at present the Amazon Luna is the most likely winner in that direction, but I have no idea where Netflix is going, so there are options in a race where some horses cannot compete and some horses are unknown. In that race I see Nintendo in third position, with their gaming attitude they could go higher and they have what it takes, but they work on a formula that is almost guaranteed to keep them in the race, yet like any formula, it has limits and that is not a bad thing, it is what they chose and so far they kept 93,000,000 gamers happy with the Switch overtaking Microsoft by a lot, the weakest system defeated the strongest console in the world. Why is that? Technology? No, Nintendo listened to their gamers, gave their gamers what they needed. That was the simple truth since before the Switch arrived and when it did in 2017 the world saw a winner and Microsoft became the number one loser. This is about to happen again yet in 2023/2024 it will be the streamers who fight over the initial number three position, but some will have it within them to get to second place. And good games is where they get the winning positions, the better the games, the more the gamer wins and that is my stage,
I want gamers to win, because if they win, I win. I am after all a gamer.
