Advertisement led the way

I started the day fine, but then I started to play some game and the irritation began. ?Not the game mind you, but there is a game called last fortress and the advertisements do not reflect the game, not in the slightest. But there was an upside. You see, they dug themselves a treasure and they use it for ads. How silly is that. Consider a game like Dungeon keeper and combine that with Fallout Shelter and you have the beginning of a new stage of gaming.

You start in a house. As you secure with traps the rooms become available, the better the defence of that room, the better your chances. In the first room (the bathroom) you gain the option of water. As you proceed (via ducts) to scout the rooms you will get the kitchen (food), and that is when you get your first addition, a cook. So there you are growing as a scout, a fighter or an engineer, you will gain skills. But one touch from a zombie and it is lights out, forever.

So as you complete a house, the added people become in-crowd but only for a while. The more they grow, the more they are inclined to stay, so the cook needs to cook, As such you grow your crew with an electrician a trap maker, a plumber, a fighter and so on. And as you go to the second house you get an additional room to create, a little like Dungeon Keeper, but the setting is more like Fallout shelter, although isometric in view. And the ads show that there is interest, so the makers are looking at a whole lot of revenue coming their way. What surprises me is that no one figured that out, it wasn’t that much of a leap. The larger issue is to find an option for microtransactions without making it mandatory, that gives the greatest boost and the longest time of revenue.

So as the game progresses from houses to apartment buildings, warehouses, shopping centres and all with their own challenge. I reckon that the hardest level (location 25) leads to a stage where we get more of the same, but now the risk of breach becomes larger, so it will be about a tactical approach much more than before. That didn’t take long did it? So when the others catch up, you might optionally be making the next addiction on mobile, tablet, PC and console.

Ridley to the rescue

Yup, another weird night. It was the setting of a movie, but one that my mind created. The story starts in the Sahara, two opportunists are looking for whatever they are looking for. And even if they do not realise it, they find it and one of them gets stung. And it is then that the other person takes the high ground and they make it towards the city and medical attention. The first two symptoms happen within minutes and they know it is serious. As one gets difficulty breathing and

muscle twitching they know that time is essential. It is on route to the city when they notice a dozen of abandoned portocabins, they decide to have a quick look, hoping for something to ease the pain. They find nothing bus skeletons, nothing was left except a microscope and some books. They also notice the cave behind the portocabins. It looks cool and they go in to cool off for an hour, which would help the sick man as well. It is then that the neck and eye movements, the drooling and sweating starts, they decide that the sick man stays there, to remain cool and calm, his friend will race towards to city to get help or medication. It is on the way out that the healthy man notices a box in a corner. It holds books, notebooks and some kind of drive. He takes it all and races to the town. When he gets into the town there is panic all over the place, people are panicked and he makes it to the hospital, which is nothing more than a small extended clinic. He seeks help and asks doctors for help. They are all too busy. An intern tries to help him but they are dealing with patients with nausea and vomiting, high blood pressure and tachycardia. All signs of scorpion stings. He tells the intern that his friends has the same and also tells him where he is, stating that he is willing to get the medicine there himself. The intern tells him that they ran out the day before, but if he is in a cool place than he has a decent chance, the poison needs to run its course. He accepts that and races back only to find his friend now dead. He leaves and grieves. He looks at the corpse and walks off. When he gets to the town he moves to the port and books a room towards Italy, he pays cash and the captain accepts it. When he is in his room he takes his notepad and is able to get data from the drive. It is some medical journal to create people with small parts of scorpions so that they can better deal with the heatwaves that are coming. They succeeded, but they also made the people a bit more aggressive and less rational. He reads this and realises that his friend died from an experiment. The journal states that they decided to burry the cave with explosives and those dozen experiments were buried alive. He then realises what happened. At that point they are stopped by the Italian coast guard. They are all questioned and he hands over what he found, but not all. He tells them that the drive was in a porto-cabin, and he was unable to connect to the drive as it is a simple notebook for making notes. The coast guard officer accepts this and takes the drive and the man asks “Is it worth anything?” As his American passport is in order the officer states that he will not go to prison for this and walks off

It is months later, the pandemonium has simmered down, the tropics are silent, the man is now in Northern Canada as scorpions do not relish the cold. He is sitting by the fire and ponders the loss of his friend, then the knock on the door and a man walks in, his friend, now with deep black eyes and a 5th arm coming from his lower spine. The stinger isn’t pronounced, but it also holds two hands. He looks at the friend “Caspar?” The man replies, that was once my name. I know what you did and thanks to you we won the war, the people are now diminished. We will let you be here, we do not like this cold, but I had to come see you. I owed you that much. Not much of a wealth is it? Without you it all seemed meaningless, the adventure was fun because we both did it, alone there is nothing. Caspar nodded. I will not offer you this life, there are harsh rules and I cannot make an exception for you. So you can stay here, safe. Know that you can travel through my lands without harm, but the lands are now a lot more dangerous and life remains unbalanced. In 5-10 years the temperatures will lower and we will pull back to the deserts. The rest is for what remains and that is not that many, so you have a pick of palaces, but in the end it will become your mausoleum. Life as it was was never going to be great, governments squandered so much, so little is left.

Good luck to you and good luck to whatever you do next and with that Caspar left the cabin leaving a grieving friend to ponder at the fireplace.

Well that was when I woke up, well I woke up when he went to Northern Canada. The rest I added whilst writing this part. I hope you enjoyed this short tory and if you want to make more of it, good luck.

In doubt we trust

Yes, it is the most uncanny of statements and there is al kinds of opposition to it. For me this started yesterday when I saw the BBC article (at https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-63157632) titled ‘Molly Russell: Dad wants no further delay to online harm bill’ and I get it, he wants to do something and it all makes sense. But then we get “He also said online platforms must stop self-regulating their content” and there the trouble starts. In the first we have the UK, Canada, the US all having their version of freedom of speech and freedom of expression. And it get to be worse. The UK (like a well trained group of pussies) decided to largely ignore the Leveson report. The media CANNOT regulate themselves and even after Leveson we have seen several examples where the media is unable to police and regulate themselves, as such why hold tech players and online media to those standards? The second setting is that these players can move from place to place. It is too large a sewer to see any clear management done on any level. And I feel for Ian Russell, I really do. Yet when we see “The current government has said that they want the UK to be the safest place in the world to be online and yet we’re still here and we’re not regulating the platforms. I think it’s really important, firstly, that something that is illegal in the offline world must be illegal and we must be better protected when it’s found on the online world” we see the dream state, it is the best description. The man is not wrong, but with the cloud there is even less oversight. And it is a multi tiered prong we see. We go after regulating platforms but we do not go after the POSTERS. State per nations that any poster of social media is held responsible and make sure that the penalties are harsh. It will be a first hurdle and there are over a dozen to go. You see, when that hurdle is fixed, others will offer services on an international foundation and the problem starts again. His only real option is to make sure that EVERY poster of  certain materials are published with their real name and real address. That is when the game changes. Some will stop and hide under a rock, others will get more clever about matters and we are back at square one. For one Facebook adds “more than 300 million photos get uploaded per day. Every minute there are 510,000 comments posted and 293,000 statuses updated” Facebook tories are worse they are only there for 24 hours and can only be watched by a person twice. There is no policing or managing that. It is a life of its own and that is merely one source. Add Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube and half a dozen more and you see the scale of the matter. YouTube is the centre of 720,000 hours of material EVERY DAY. The scale cannot be managed and anyone who says different is lying to you. And that is only in places where some have oversight. With TikTok it becomes a much larger mess. So we might trust in doubt, but that doubt needs a formidable bat. Making the poster responsible and these media outlets reporting and having some  grasp of the posters is essential and that is a first. It will not make a huge dent, but it could give governments and people a handle of the poster of the harmful content and there is the first setting. These people want the limelight, but when their faces are on the news and they are being asked the hard questions, they will hide behind the freedom of speech and there is the real problem. The laws are centuries old and they never considered mass media and mass slander. These concepts did not even exist in those years. It is not bout regulation, it is about the laws being adjusted and there is also the problem, when that person places it on a server in Russia, India or China, can that person be prosecuted?

It is a rather large mess and the law followed decades behind, so I reckon that a first solution will come to shine by 2035, which might make it no longer valid.

It is merely my view and plenty will disagree, but look at what is now and how much could be regulated and do not rely on AI, it does not yet exist. In the mean time, I need to find a contact in Riyadh, the one in the Saudi Consulate seems to be non functioning (with the option of $500 million a month for their government), the levels of inaction are weird to say the least, but that is my problem, not yours.

Beyond the nightmare

Yes, there is always a beyond the nightmare side. I was watching two things. Earlier today I watched a dreadful video, the voices were out of synch and that was the best part of the video. Then later I rewatched the second Downton Abbey movie, yes the one with the France scenes and the camera crews. And it also took me back to the movie Singing in the rain. Then it occurred to me, there are so many silent movies, so many examples. As such I am a little surprised that Adobe and the other players do not have an assortment of training materials where any Vlogger could train precision in sound insertion. It is a simple exercise and the people would have some sound dialogue but after that it would become their own materials. It could open all kinds of new materials and with the millions of GoPro Hero 10 and now GoPro Hero 11 out there, there is a pressing need for them to up their materials, to differ from the average vlogger. And as I was seeking, I saw nothing out there, or at least way too little. So why aren’t some considering what is needed, what some need and why they aren’t covering it? I want to say ‘Do I have to do everything?’ But the reality is that I cannot be the only one thinking this. I do wonder when we will see the storm-flood of new, larger and higher quality vlogs. Now there are plenty of really good vlogs out there, but we can never have enough high quality vlogs, now can we?

As such Sunday is drawing to a close (it’s 23:49), as such Monday morning is a mere 600 seconds away.

As nightmares go

Yup, we all have them and I am no different. Yet this one was not that scary. I was walking and avoiding some big guy lobbing at me with a baseball bat, spiked no less, the size of an outdoor lamp post. And soon thereafter I got the upper hand and won, so I was facing not a real nightmare. It took a minute to realise that I was in some boss fight, but that is when The game changed for me, the second fight was the same guy, the same area and the bat seemed more menacing. But that was before I realised that he hat hit one of the potted plants and when I passed the plant, I slipped. I got up in time to avoid the bat on the head event and I took to running to keep my distance and my mind started to scream ‘This didn’t happen the last time’ and suddenly I realised that this wasn’t really a nightmare, it was a point of revelation. You see I fought and killed so many bosses in so many games, the mind realised that the boss fights are close to identical every time you face that person and that was the weird setting. What happens when bosses have an added edge? When you face them again added difficulties are faced making this a real boos fight? Environmental elements, weapon facings and challenges. The boss gets to be stronger, to be quicker to be smarter and there the environment works for him, not for you. Count the games that offered this, I cannot come up with one version where this is an option. There is no ‘New Game +’ or another setting where the people we face have added skills. Adding this could prevent grinding from becoming actual grinds, where boss fights to get more and more powerful rewards to be given that at a cost. It is a setting no game offered, why not? It is not the most of novel ideas and over the decades of gaming I never saw that brought to life. In all this no one is asking the question why. I believe that streaming games offer more and could offer more still, although this implementation could be an option in console games too. So whilst my previous IP is now at 3.0 with two additional products, I took a gander and added something to gaming as well. So whilst Google is leaving the area and we are left with the nobody Microsoft and Amazon and its moonshine, it is the Amazon device that has the option to gain 50 million subscriptions and make the Microsoft show how irrelevant they have become, and I merely added a new side to boss fights to games and make the Microsoft solution even more irrelevant. I believe it is time for my morning coffee and I do believe that I earned a muffin to boot.

Another fine mess I got myself into

Yup, a paraphrased line from Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. It is still in part true. I got yesterday’s IP and created a second iteration making it more and more innovative. It was already innovative, but I want to stretch the IP to its maximum. Yet there was also the printable display. Even as a concept it is worthy of pursuing and improving upon. The initial part is not merely the materials used, but how they are applied. You see, if I can make this solution a little more flexible, than they could fit a column. I checked dozen of mall video’s (not just the one in Toronto) and I saw that there are options for hundreds of columns. So there could be a market for thousands even tens of thousands displays. The printable display was a solution with 1-2 markets in sight, but now I see that there is a much larger application if only part of the solution could be set to a more flexible mould. It is not out of the question, but I tend to focus on longevity. The solution needs to work 5 years from now and that is a rather tall order when the foundation of the display is too flexible. So I got myself into a little bit of a mess. I can see the solution, but not what materials are best to be used for the flexible display. I still have v1.3 (non flexible printable display) yet my soul is greedy for the cerebral victory, I have to solve this. And solve it I will, but that is the mess I got myself into.

A such my mind wanted to travel all over the place and see what else is possible, but to be honest. I do not really have to the first version of the printable display is optionally fine and is close to becoming public domain. It is a setting where I feed the hungry small fish public domain, a setting that the larger fish cannot have and they become jealous and wonder what else I have and now we have ourselves a clambake. You see I feel certain that when the larger firms see all this IP pass them by, they will suddenly decide to wake up (a speculation from my side) and suddenly they are all interested in all the other stuff (except for the military applications, they are DARPA and DARPA alone), OK, that was not quite true, one solution was handed to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia because if Europe and the US will not deal with the Iranian navy, I reckon that the KSA was entitled to this freebee. In addition with the Russian threats, when they act on them the snow-globe solution (see previous blogs 2021 and 2020) becomes public domain too. I have to let then know that there are people who do not now and not ever trust Iran and those willing to act will get the ammunition they need. Which off course implies that I got myself in additional settings that relates to ‘That’s another fine mess I got myself into’. As such I tend to get myself in plenty of messes, but for now I am focussed on getting my printable display to V2.0, which should be enough, but the mind yearns for challenges and it seeks new frontiers to investigate. I will let it do its stuff, it is how I got the latest IP in the first place. I have no idea what the value is, but I actually do not care. The larger station is now my streaming solution that could entice well over 50 million new subscriptions. It is enough for now.

The pallamaglio consideration

I was doing nothing important. Watching another Easton Centre Mall video and I suddenly realised something. You see, I created the IP for printable displays last year and I suddenly realised two things. The first being that a printed display is not rigid (but it could be), as such it could be placed around a column and Easton Centre has dozens upon dozens of unused columns, so there are options there.

Now, this does not apply to all malls. Yet for some reason I was looking to a large open section and  my mind flashed over the Chinese drone presentation. Now drones and malls do not really mix, but something stuck and that could be a much larger application. And less than an hour later I had the foundation for an entirely new IP. I will have to check a few things, but as far as I can tell it is not there yet, so I have another piece of IP in the making. And this too does not apply to all malls, but it does here and at least two other malls I visited in the US. So the application is larger than what I see, and optionally a lot larger than anyone considered. I will need to set some hardware and the IP I have in mind to another format and I will have the making of new display technology in a little wider format. I wonder how I can set the framework. The main part is in 6 parts, then there is the app to manage and test the event. And an app for analysing and creating the display part. The display hardware could be nearly any new gaming laptop. These are the small parts. The 6 parts are almost created in my mind, there is one additional side to one of the parts, but I reckon that I have that in hand as well. So in a little over an hour I created a whole new IP, and more important, an IP I never looked at, a direction I merely ignored for all kinds of reasons and as such it fell right into my lap. So I reckon that I will add it to my IP bundle 1 if it ever sells. I know the optimistic part tells me that it is not ‘if’ but ‘when’, yet the non-takers are adding up and I am still a little weirded out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia did not react to the fact that one part added up to well over $500,000,000 per month. Yet perhaps they are too rich too consider something that small? Amazon and Google seemingly reacted to that same degree perhaps it is my choice in aftershave? Well there is still the UAE and their action towards the Metaverse might optionally work in my favour. Anyway, that is a different issue. For now I have a new IP, not a bad days work, even if I do say that myself.

Wall and writing

Yup that is the setting and it will be clear soon enough. It was a day in July when I wrote (at https://lawlordtobe.com/2022/07/18/for-those-not-seeing-the-oil-field/) titled ‘For those not seeing the oil field’, there I wrote “What happens when they sell 2.5 million barrels a day less and let that go to the US shortage?” So this was three months ago and now we see at NPR (at https://www.npr.org/2022/10/05/1126754169/opec-oil-production-cut) “The OPEC+ alliance announced a 2 million barrels a day cut in oil production Wednesday”, so I was off by only 500,000 barrels a day. I mentioned on a few occasions ‘I told you so’ and this time around it ill cost you, it will cost you a lot, because 2 million barrels less implies a fuel price rise of 10%-20% from the start and still in that time no one asked Brent oil any heavy questions. It is a commercial enterprise and as such it does not care about Americans and their cheap fuel needs. So whilst we all stare at “President Biden has been trying to rein in prices at the gas pump ahead of the midterm elections” all whilst he did close to nothing to rein in Brent and their selling of well over 75% of their stock abroad. You just cannot have it both ways. If you wanted cheap oil, they needed to treat Saudi Arabia as a real ally to a much better degree than they did. Consider going to the pastry shop asking: “Yo fat fuck, gimme a pastry for 10 cents” what are the chances that will work? Even if you make it “Sir can you please sell me a pastry for 10 cents” there will not be too many shops who will do that. A friend might, but America did whatever they could to make the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a pariah whilst embracing the delay tactics of Iran, Saudi Arabia’s proxy enemy. This was all going to happen one way or another and the fake claims on Russia and Saudi Arabia are a joke. This all plays straight into the hands of China who optionally might end up with that extra oil. All settings that were out in the open from the beginning. On the other hand if oil prices go up, Saudi Arabia might be more interested in my IT solution that gives them at least $500 million a month extra. Time will tell (the commercial manager in the Saudi Consulate in Sydney is seemingly too busy to see me). Well time will tell what comes next but for now Americans will see fuel prices jump, they will see their wages go towards arming thanksgiving and Christmas households and all whilst they are all ‘enjoying’ dinner wearing thicker pants and an extra jumper. As such fashion houses take notice of those needs.

The writing was on the walls and I saw that danger happen 3 months ago. So whilst the US and UK went to Riyadh to ‘kindly please send more cheap oil our ways’ they forgot the first rule of diplomacy (politics too), you cannot make that effort empty handed and then let other organisations slap Saudi Arabia around, it never ever works that way. So when we consider “Yasser Elguindi, the head of macro research at Energy Aspects, says there’s a perception that the Saudis are trying to push prices back to or above $100 per barrel by cutting production and tightening the market. He says the magnitude of the proposed cut has caught people by surprise”, take time to notice that I saw that danger three months ago, so the ‘by surprise’ part is either hollow or a clear first show of reduced levels of competency. Yes the latter part is pure speculation, but feel free to check my earlier article, and consider what is up.

No matter how you slice it, the timing of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is pretty good, winter is coming. Where did I hear that before? No matter what, it will be a cold Christmas this year for a lot of Americans. I wonder what the impact will be in the states like New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, not to mention Washington DC. But the media might continue to avoid the Brent Crude Oil settings and for President Biden and the current PM of the United Kingdom I suggest that they take time and get the Master of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy or brush up on what you learned there. It might help matters a little. Just some food for thought.

They just won’t learn

That happens, people Incapable of learning. IT people listening to salespeople because these sales people know what buttons to push. Board members pushing for changes so that their peer will see that they are up to speed on the inter-nest of things (no typo) and there are all other kinds of variation and pretty much every company has them. Even as Australia is still reeling from the Optus debacle, Telstra joins the stupid range (at https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-10-04/telstra-staff-have-details-hacked/101499920). So explain to me why an HR system needs to be online? OK, you will get away with that and there is a need for some to access it, but in what universe does this need to be so open that EVERYONE can get to it? That is the question we see raised with ‘Telstra data breach sees names and email addresses of staff uploaded online’, a blunder of unimaginable proportions. On the other hand, Telstra will be bleeding staff members left, right and forward pretty soon. You see, this list is well desired by over a dozen telecoms in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia. They all need staff all over the place and now their headhunters know EXACTLY where to dig. Even as the article gives us two parts. The first part is “a third party which was offering a rewards program for staff had the data breach in 2017” as well as “Telstra has not used the rewards program since 2017, the spokesperson said” in all this the question that matters are not asked. We get Bill Shorten trying to change the conversation back to Optus with: “get the information so I can stop hackers from hacking into government data and further compromising people’s privacy”. The massive part is “Why was a reward program not used for 5 years still linked to HR data?” It seems that ABC does not ask this and the others do not either. So even if we get “Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus has said he will review Australia’s privacy laws and tighter protections could be brought in by the end of the year” Yet the larger question remains unanswered. How to protect these systems from STUPID people? A reward system that has a direct link to the HR data and was not used for 5 years is stupid, plain and simple stupid. As such this affects their IT and their HR department. Yet the people (politicians and media are not asking these questions are they? They let Labor loser Shorten change the conversation. Oh, do not worry we are not even close to done with Optus, but the setting that the conversation is pushed away from Telstra allegedly implies that Telstra has too large a hold on Media and politicians. So whilst the media allowed Telstra to hide behind “while the data is of minimal risk to former employees” they fail to see the larger picture. In an age brain drains these people are worth their eight in Lithium (more valuable than gold) and it seems to me that an employment database of 30,000 telecom people will be eagerly mined in the three earlier mentioned regions. These hackers were smart, they can get a million easily (over 10-15 customers) and these customers will not care where that data comes from, they need personnel and they needs them now. So it seems that certain people just ill not learn and there is no hiding behind “in an attempt to profit from the Optus breach” Telstra claims to be so superior, of that is so either the hack would not have affected them, or these systems are in a worse shape than ever before and that is also missing from the article. Two competitors successfully hit by the same flaw? It seems that too many people are asleep at the wheel. And no one is asking the right questions, not even the media, why is that?

They are now important as it reflects on an event that woke me up.  I was with a woman in an undisclosed location, we were about to have desert. It was a strawberry selection, two parfaits (I actually had to look that part up) and some strawberry mouse with strawberry covering and some small fruit tart with mashed strawberries with whipped cream. It was at that point my brain started to scream out loud. I told her, no matter what do not, I repeat, do not touch anything with strawberries. I looked at the waiter. Where is the closest mirror? He looked odd at me and pointed up a small entresol, there is a large mirror there. I ran to the mirror and my mind kept on screaming. I stared in the mirror, something I never do. I have one mirror somewhere and that is to see if I have to comb my hair. I stared into my own eyes. What stared back was a different me, an almost diabolical self. He screamed at me ‘Strawberries and poison are mixed there’ I became myself and the mirror merely showed a reflection. I ran back. This is toxic, do not touch it. She looked in fear at me and the waiter almost in disgust. He stated that he would be right back, He came back with something that looked like post-it paper. He touched the blue post-it on the strawberry and it turned slightly red. ‘Mon Dieux’ he stammered and ran off. A minute later there was commotion upstairs and two man came down. The took me and the woman away from the table and they arrested me no less. So why did that paper turn red? Strawberries were red, but the man panicked, so this was about something else. I was taken away in a dark van, where to was unknown to me and that was when I woke up. The dream is linked to the missing episodes. An Afreet in Turkey, I need to find this episode (in 2-3 parts). It is part of the season 2 escalations. In that part we will learn about 2 more players in this grand scheme, but the mirror was new, how new? I cannot tell yet because there are parts missing and that is the irritating part of a story that is incomplete. I hope to add more soon.
